I am having a problem with windows 7 not letting me install the driver for my mega squirt. I borrowed a friends lap top and got my car running with it, but i had to give it back. Now i cant tune at all because of this driver issue. I was able to download 2 of the three files needed ( Files that i used on the other laptop) to connect with the mega squirt. The file that will not install is the R340 file. It was one of three sent with the ECU. I have tryed the one on wilsonracingms.com as well but still nothing.
Please help.
Stinger if you read this, i tried downloading some of those driver fix programs off the web but no luck with this issue.

It's not a Windows 7 issue. Windows 7 is the most secure and the best operating system ever for a Windows machine. It's the fact that the ecu was not sent with the correct files for Windows 7. I've tried to explain that you don't need the files that come on the CD. None of the files you used with XP are used on your Win7 computer. I used only ONE file to get my Win7 system working with MS2 and that's the driver I've gave you the download link to. Any further issues are related to user error and the inability to correctly configure the driver.

Here is what is going on now. I went to the web sight. The top of the page it says USBSerialdrivers. A video is playing, talking about the company and its products. I scroll down and the first driver link I see says; USB to Serial Adapter Driver New 2009 drivers for XP/Vista and 64-bit OS PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_10311.zip XP, Vista (32, 64-bit)200923032,281KB I click on the prolific driver installer link (above). Select OPEN. A window comes open with 2 files; Prolificdriver installer and a Release note. I right click on The driver installer file. Click open Another window opens: EXTRACT ALL, RUN, CANCEL I select extract. Compressed zipped window appears w/ the driver highlighted. Beside this it says browse. At the bottom it says EXTRACT. I select extract. When this is finnished, it is on my lap top. After all is said and done and i try to hook up to the ecu it prompts me that driver is not installed properly. When i hook up the usb , and go to devices and printers I find Usb2.0 Ser!. I select it and go to properties and it tells me it is in port 2 hub 6. It also tells me no driver installed! I have got to be missing something.

After you extract the driver, you have to run the file that is extracted. That is the driver installer.

I forgot to mention that part. I right click on the program and click RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. I go through all the prompts,NEXT, NEXT, ect, FINISH.
This is the point were it tells me that it was not installed properly and prompts me to reinstall using recomended settings. I do so and still nothing.

By "and still nothing" you mean what? It doesn't respond, says it isn't installed, says there was an error with the install, what?

Have you used the installation wizard to try and install the driver for the USB? It should pop up and ask you if you'd like to manually install it or use the installation wizard.

I used the install wizard. It seems to be installed because it is on my desk top. But it still will not let me connect.

No, being on your desktop means you unzipped the file so you could run the installer. The install is "invisible" as it installs into the system files on the computer.

Once it is unzipped> right click On its icon > Open > Select driver file> Run as Admidistrator > The install wizard starts its process, but it now says ( click Next to confirm UN-install). Does this meen that it is installed?
If it doesnt meen that it is installed; I would like to try to install it manualy like you suggested, but i am not sure how to do so.
Let me ask you this, is your operating system a 64 bit or a 32 bit?
It was suggested to me to install a 32 bit java format and try it that way. I did so but it didnt work either.

Mine is 64bit as well. If it says click to uninstall then yes it's installed.
When you plug in the USB from the MS and view the connection in the Device Manager, does it show a little yellow "!" (which means there is an issue with the connection)?

That is the most pesky freaking " ! " I have ever known. Yes it is there and I just want to cry every time I see it. .... That face rite there, yeah that's me crying a river! Back to your question though, It is most definitely there. I have tried "Diagnosing Problem" with windows and " Update Driver" through the net and by browsing through my computer.
