So when I go to the junkyard is there a year of block/head/crank that I should look for in particular. I assume the late 80's/early 90's heads are best since they had roller cams? I plan to buy forged pistons and forged rods.
I would like a turbo engine around 500 flywheel hp. Is there an aftermarket crankshaft now or is it needed.
Its been years since I built a 2.3L, did a couple, but never did a turbo. Is EFI the only way to go, or can you get a carbed 2.3L turbo running good?

I seen that but don't limit myself to factory turbo motor since I don't know what I will find here. I appreciate the quick response and sure we will be doing business. Nice looking forum here I wish it success. One more question for now; the 2.3L's getting built to high hp, do they need motorplates or solid motor mounts? I know the BBF needs plates at about 500hp on the engine, I hate the things.

Well, if using a non-turbo block, I'd suggest an EFI block from before 1991. They have the same main bearings as the turbo blocks, and thicker cylinder walls like the turbo engines. The later dual plug (91+ in Mustangs, 89(?)+ in Rangers have thin cylinder walls).
No need for a motor plate, upgraded motor mounts aren't a bad idea. Stockers will hold up if they are in good condition though.
