You're doing a great job Matt. I can't wait to see the results at St. Louis and wish we could be there. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the support even if you cant make it. Thats what helps keep me going!

If you don't mind me asking what waterpump/thermostat/radiator setup are you running ? The engine compartment is a work of art btw and probably the most amazing 2.3 setup I have ever seen, I watch your videos day in and day out for inspiration to complete mine!

Ha Thanks! I'm headed back this coming weekend to try again. Water pump is a meziere WP116S that I scored off ebay for about half price. The thermostat housing is just a normal unit for a 5.0L that I flipped upside down and slotted one hole. Radiator is a BeCool 65005, That I scored off ebay for $76. I spent 6 months of watching ebay and other sites to collect the cooling system parts. lol

The water pump block off is just a chunk of alum I had. Its on my list to redo this winter to something a little more pretty.
I'm def done for the year now.

Wow i had the same thing happen to me when i did a hard pull in my ranger one night doing about 100. Had the girl friend freaking out and all. Needless to say I ended up having a shoop build me a new one with upgraded f150 yokes and what not.

I know this is older but I just saw Matt on YellowBullet somewhere and his signature had a run of 9.37 @ 144 mph. I think we need an update on his car and a new run down of what he has going now!

Not a whole lot changed. New intake and about 10psi more than before.

Is he still using the iron head?

Yes, same iron head/cam as he's had for a couple years. He did upgrade from the HX40 to a larger Borg Warner turbo as the HX40 was maxed out (couldn't make any more than about 26 psi boost that dropped off with rpm).

People rolled their eyes when I said that 9.99@137 had only scratched the surface of what this iron head could run. The much of the rest remained convinced I had to have been spraying it. lol I'm not sure how much further I can go on boost alone but we are closing in on a time when I will likely throw caution to the wind and max it out.

Yeah I thought that 9.99 was unbelievable and when I saw that 9.37 over on Yellowbullet I couldnt believe it. That thing is flying for still being iron headed. How much cfm is that head flowing? When I talked to Esslinger a few days ago they said that their full ported iron 2.3 head is about 220 ish cfm. Your set up must be flowing a ton of air to max out at hx40 at 26 psi. What did you end up doing with the old intake?

It flows about 235cfm on the intake side.
