The paintjob isn't for me, but the motor sure is! Very nice, mind letting us in on the specs?

Fuel was Q16, stock block, billet stock stroke crank, Esslinger SVO head, Boport stage 4 cam, powerglide, 7675 CEA turbo, 29psi, 5400rpm @ 17lbs for the launch.

At that point why not try the ARCA head?
Last time I did a neutral drop at 4000rpm in my N/A 2.3, my brand new trans with 200 miles on it sheared in half. >.<

I think I can make 8's with the current combo! Sorry to hear about the trans breaking, that sucks for sure.

The good news is, the guy who built the trans has been in the business building race transmissions for 30 years, and I know him personally. For $140 he got 6 gear steel planetaries to replace the stock 3 gear aluminum planetaries (it turns out the aluminum planetary had actually sheared completely in half lol) so he tore it back apart and did the labor and all for free to put the new planetaries in.
Have you considered turning the motor into a stroker? Pull some 5.7 rods out of a chevy 350 and a crank out of a 99-01ish ranger 2.5 and you can put together a nice little stroker for cheap. If you can find a ranger 2.5 and you don't want to do that, send that crank my way. I've been looking for one but they're apparently very hard to find.
Only issue is that the 2.5 crank is small main and the pre dual plug head blocks are all big main, so you'd have to get a spacer to make up the difference, or just use a DP block and make a hole for the oil return (unfortunately sacrificing the nice high nickel content turbo block)
I'd love to see a turbo stroker running around. Bet you could hit low 8's, maybe even 7's if you played with it a bit and got it to hook real nice!

There is no reason to dream about turbo strokers, there are probably at least 500 of them running around and at least a dozen or more in all out race applications. Many of those are larger than 2.5L though.

I know they're out there, just not nearly enough of them. Obviously I'd get aftermarket performance 5.7 rods at his level, but for where I'm going to be at for now they'd do the trick.

350 Chevy rods are only good for about 300-350hp in a 4 cylinder application (600-700 in a V8). In other words, way weaker than stock 2.3 rods. Lets not clutter up his "Nines" threads with anymore off topic discussion.

I could be wrong, but I heard John Hubers was running 900hp and still only running 8's?

He said he was shooting for 8's, yet he's running 500ish hp now, whereas John Huber has almost twice as much power and a mere second faster.
