Just purchased this 88 TC Saturday and it was having issues, but the previous owner had just installed the exhaust kit. I have corrected most of the codes, but 26, 42 and 76 won't go away. I replaced the VAM and 02 sensor. The car is running much better, but with the drop in back pressure due to the new exhaust I am wondering if that is where the CEL is coming from?
Time to start reading on the ECU page, but I am wondering if anyone had to make a tune adjustment after adding the exhaust? Otherwise this car is stock with A4LD. The car was purchased as a to and from work vehicle. There is no intention of heavily modifying the car.
I do have Moates QH and BE, but no strategy file for this car. All of my experience has been with the 89-97 MN12 chasis. Wondering if getting a Jaybird chip and writing a simple adjustment tune wouldn't solve the issue, but before doing that I wanted to know others experience after installing the exhaust on a stock car if possible.

Yes, I saw this in the FAQ, but it doesn't state anything about if turning would/could be required as a sole change to a stock vehicle.
Will 3" exhaust kill my low end power because it doesn't have enough backpressure? No. The turbo creates more than enough backpressure for the engine. The best turbo exhaust is the least restrictive possible. This includes large tubing, mandrel bends (not crushed in the bends), and a straight through muffler design.

No tune is required for exhaust and it won't throw any codes.
You need to read VAF voltage and verify it's within spec.

The VAM did need adjustment. It was reading .310 with the door closed. Moved the tab so that it now reads .248 when the door is shut. No dead spots between .25 and 4.5. Now to continue to chase down Vac leaks. Plug one and find the next. Glad to have a smoke machine.
