I am getting code 24 ACT out of range. Now in the P series there is no direct sensor only the one in the VAM correct? I took the VAM out and used a hair dryer and an instant read thermometer near as I can tell it is off in resistance by a fair margin. It tracks up and down by temp but the scale is off. Can the current one be cleaned or calibrated or replaced? Next is a dumb question but still... If none of these are options will a normal ACT sensor work in its place if I plumb it in and extend the wires to it? I do plan to upgrade to the LA3 with big VAM in the spring since I have a complete set up Harness, ECU and VAM just trying to get through the Michigan winter.
Assuming the ACT should remain before the intercooler since the ambient air is not the same as the cooled charge air after the intercooler and the P series doesn't interpret for it like the L series does with a dedicated true ACT sensor in the intake manifold. Thanks in advance for your help and Happy New Year.

Code 24: ACT (Air Charge Temperature) sensor voltage out of range. Suspect ACT sensor and harness. Non-Intercooled 2.3 Turbo - Vane Air Flow voltage out of range.
As stated, you don't have an ACT so the code is for the VAM. The VAT (temp sensor in the VAM) is code 28.
Either way, an ACT has a different transfer function than a VAT so it can't replace it, the VAT is not available separately, and the VAM needs to be replaced according to the code.
