no change with the thermostat. i did notice the system has no pressure in it, so i stopped at autozone and picked up a radiator cap, drove it around and there is still not a hiss upon removal of the cap.
im curious, if the water pump wasnt doing enough, would it fail to pressurize the system yet still run incredibly cold? reason i ask is, first i have no other options, and second a friend gave me a water pump for free so i figured it was worth a try..

Water pumps either work or they don't, there is no middle ground. If it's not working, it will run hot not cold though.
Failing to pressurize is puzzling. It would seam to indicate there is a pressure leak somewhere...headgasket maybe?

its either this car or my truck to drive to work, and the truck costs too much in fuel. its just this thing NEEDS heat...

i ran without an egr gasket for nearly a month with no idle issues, you sure that was the problem?

unless the idle problems and lean out of boost problems were coincidentally fixed when i put a gasket on, i think it was a problem.. also, i sprayed the intake with brake clean, every time i hit the egr valve the idle would go all nuts. i put the gasket on, its perfectly fine now.. idk

does anyone know where i can find something to show which coolant hoses run where, mainly in the oil cooler section? i am trying to make sure everything is where its supposed to be, as its still not building heat, and i took all those hoses off to replace with new ones and im not positive i have them the right way..

I suppose so but it's not all that likely. Only way it would cool off is if the thermostat is opening and somehow the cold water from the radiator is going into the heater core.

well i only had the heater core hoses backwards so i flipped those for fun, threw on a new water pump i got for free, filled it up as much as i could as it got hot and beat the balls off it right away.
actually blows heat now, tho the guage fluctuates. i dont care, im warm and its 8* today lol

i have found that the stant thermostats suck!! period the end! ford motorcraft are egged and have a very small hole to bleed out air and help the stat feel the temp in the engine better then if the hole is not there. that is why it goes hot, cold, hot, cold, until u drive it along time and it balances out. put a motorcraft in and watch the differance it makes.
