Ended up having to put a different transmission in the car. The old one decided to go ahead and eat the front bearing on the countershaft. Ended up with a world class T-5 from a N/A 4-banger coupe. Being that the old girl was running pretty good I took it to the track with me on Sunday and decided to up the boost after a couple of runs (set it just a hair under 25 psi, up from my usual 22). That was a bad idea. Ran it once, had a little detonation, still ran a 14.01 @ 98. Decided a little 110 would take care of the detonation. Wrong. As I shifted into fourth after the 1/8 mile it started to detonate badly, but before I could let out, BOOM. I knew immediately I had blown the head gasket. Looked behind me to see a cloud of spent coolant. Pulled over and brought the car to a stop (to minimize cleanup). Oh well, live and learn... It does piss me off that again I was so close to a 13, but it still eludes me...

Yeah, that's blown alright. Put some paint on that water pump while you can get to it!

It is a bit ugly isn't it? I hope to have back together this evening (had to order all the gaskets)...

Isn't it what's on the inside that matters?

Depends if we are talking looks or function (and cars or women).

Function and cars or looks and women...

In that case, what's on the inside isn't what dictates looks for women so I guess function and cars wins...

Took the car with me to the track Saturday and managed to squeak out a 13.91 @ 100 with 24 psi and a few degrees of extra timing on street tires. I'm pretty happy with that and will put racing on the back burner until I can get a few things done to the car. I spent all week cleaning on it and after I cleaned the burnout gunk off of it this morning I took it out for some more photos: I'm a little mad at myself, I managed to forget to check the ISO setting and shot it all at 800, so they came out a little grainy...
