will my la3 and vam work with out the turbo? so i can wire them in and run to make sure it will work before i put my turbo on.

Good questions, I too am interested in the answer. I'll be doing a swap soon (within the next year or so, lol). That would save a lot of stress cause mine is a daily driver and I will only have a weekend to do the whole swap.

Yes, it will work. It is no different than when you are cruising around out of boost. I actually ran my old 91LX this way after I blew the turbo and needed to drive it until the new turbo arrived.

Is it any more or less efficient than the stock computer and MAF as far as gas mileage is concerned? Or does it change the timing?

It is a bit less efficient because it is an older ecu and not being used for it's intended purpose and uses a vam rather than mass air meter.

Another question came to mind. Is it necessary to use the brown top injectors with the Turbo ECU and VAM? Or can I use my factory one's until the swap?

You must use the proper injectors for the ecu.
