I used these directions... www.stinger-performance.com/turboswap2.htmlAs well as some wiring diagrams to move the pins around. I can elaborate when I get home... I have toasted 3 ecu's The only thing that gets damaged is the output from pin 22, which controls the fuel pump relay. Svojohn has been helping me a great deal with some of the tuning issues, but I wanted to see if any one had run into this before... John mentioned that there were some wiring diagram differences between the 87 TC and 87 Mustang (diodes), but from what I'm seeing it looks pretty similar if you consider the IRCM of the in the tbird setup. Electric fan EGR Boost Control System have all been removed (at the harness pin). The car is currently n/a... MAF meter is a stock Fox 55mm unit. I'm using a tweecer and BE... with the LA3_MAF.bin from the BE site. Any hints would be appreciated, as I'm not seeing much in the wiring diagrams myself. jason

I've never heard of anyone having that problem with a turbo swap. There are only like 4 things that are even changed and they are all minor so the only conclusion I can come to is that you have a ground/power wire crossed up.
It sounds like you did additional harness mods outside of the swap directions (removing egr and such). That is where I would start with analyzing the wiring issue.

Sorry I haven't come back sooner, work turned intense for a while... Here are the changes I made.... Pin | FB1 | LA3 | Action I Took | 3 | PSPS | VSS (+) | Added wire in | 6 | - | VSS (-) | Added wire in | 24 | ACD | Oct. Sw. | Jumped pin24 to pin 46 | 27 | EVP | VAF | Converted to MAF-Ran to pin D on MAF meter | 31 | - | Boost | No BCS on my car-Removed pin | 33 | EGRV | EGR S/O | No EGR-Removed pin | 34 | - | 3-4 Shift | No pin-Left it out | 35 | - | ACL | No pin-Left out | 43 | - | VAT | Ran to ACT-Originally pin 25 | 45 | MAP | BP | Left wires intact/Disconnected Vac source | 52 | EGRC | HEDF | Removed Pin-Using External Fan Controller | 55 | - | EDF | No pin-Left out |
Additionally, the following changes were made for MAF conversion... MAF Pins __________ LA3 Pins __ A _______________ 37 __ B _______________ 40 __ C _______________ 46 __ D _______________ 27 Note that the LA3_MAF Definition file that John developed has eliminated the code for the stock ACT, which is why I have moved the wire from pin 25 to pin 43. - Should Pin B on the MAF be run to Chassis Ground, instead of Pin 40?
- I thought I saw notes at one point describing some additional noise suppression for the power supply to the MAF, but I can't find anything in my notes now. Is this a concern?
- I am using brown top injectors (35Lb), and the tune reflects this
- I am using the stock 5.0 Mustang MAF meter, and the tune reflects this.
- Some other Symptoms
- Currently the VSS is disconnected at the harness. When I hooked it up the car would run erratically at random times. Very lean/bucking. Condition always cleared when speed went below ~10mph. Condition did not begin every time vehicle speed went above a specific mph.
- Diagnostic Codes: 15, 81, 82, 83, 84 (these all seem normal considering the hardware in place???)
I have no doubt that it was ME that screwed this up... but I'm just not seeing where. I do appreciate you taking the time to look this over, and hopefully you will find something that I have overlooked. If you don't see anything here that looks funky, then I may just pull the entire harness this weekend to give it a thorough inspection. OT, I'm having trouble registering. I keep getting an error stating that I am using the wrong form Thanks again, jason

johnk wrote all the info about noise suppression and such on turboford a few years ago, should come up in a search. It was a 3-4 page thread.
I think you are correct on running pin B to the ecu, not to chassis ground.
I don't see anything out of place in your procedure. I'm not sure on the registration problem either as others have been signing up daily?

I couldn't register because of cookies not being allowed for this site... stupid mistake on my part.
I appreciate the feedback, and I will head to TurboFord to run a search now...
Thanks again... having a second set of eyes look this over is much appreciated.

I just wanted to come back and say thanks again.
I ripped all the wiring out last weekend, and removed everything for the stock fan controller, which had burned up years ago. Many burned/shorted wires, bad grounds, and corroded connections...
The car runs great now.
Thanks again, jason

Good to hear, sounds like it may have been a combination of many problems, rather than one wire problem.
