is this intended to be used as a standalone (retrofit) harness or is it a replacement stock harness with added features for the PiMP?

It's intended to be both, if using a PiMP. It removes wires not needed with the PiMP (Air Meter, EGR, etc.) and adds wires needed for extra features that are available through the stock connector (by re-purposing the stock wires for different uses) with wires labeled for what use they have with the PiMP (so the Launch Control wire says Launch on the wire for example).

Owner of a super clean 88 turbo coupe spotless lol 100% original exept for new engine gaskets and a new stage2 clutch waiting for a laundry list for parts from Shannon-i am very patient lol I am sure your swamped with bench racers and dreamers lol but would this harness which is gorgeous by the way help with pimp install or would it make everything plug n play or is it not necessity? Thanks guys new to 2.3l I just had to sell my 98 gt with an 03 cobra transplant supercharged with a f1 procharger 17psi. Of boost I made 656.9rwhp 535.8 rwtrq pump gas and ny compliant no expenses spared built from tip to tail then had to strip it and sell it because of a technicality in my mothers will and a true p.o.s sister sorry for rambling on.. I am just sore over losing (The green mile) lol lets just say I stopped saving reciepts after 50k lol

The ECU is plug and play with the stock harness so this harness doesn't make the install any "easier". It's a good solution for people who have a hacked up (or damaged) factory harness, are swapping the engine into a different application and need a new or highly modified harness anyway, or want to clean up the engine bay and lose a little weight with a simplified harness.

I am very impressed with it. Used it to swap in a 2.3T into my Pinto. I like the fact that there are included wires for your own oil and water temp gauges that just pass thru the firewall. Enabled me to clean out all my little installation wires and have a cleaner setup. The ECU tach wire runs my Autometer Tach just fine as well as the cooling fan, so I eliminated the extra fan relay and wiring for that as well. Had to shove a lot of extra harness over the heater box, but there was room. The install is invisible inside the interior and worked out great.
