Umm...yeah, I think that would be a good place to start with your diagnosis...
The first step in any diagnosis of ANY problem is to fix all known problems (like bad connections, especially bad connections at the item that controls the problem you are having).

Yep... I didn't really know what that was until you named it... so thanks! I guess it's o.k. for me to put a zip tie or hose clamp on there right, to keep it from blowing off?

Yes, I'd cut the end of the hose off where it is stretched out though, then clamp it. Be aware that the plastic is brittle on those solenoids so be careful.
