I have a PNP MS from EFI Source in my 83 TC and the car runs amazing but I have some idle issues and a few questions about some settings. First off the motor is a 97 GT40P with a TFS 1 cam, 1 3/4 BBK long tubes, Ford 24lb injectors set at 43psi. So motor is mostly stock. I made very few changes to the controller as delivered and with only 60 miles on the car and only a few drives tuning it myself I took it to the track and it ran a 13.93 at 102 so it runs pretty good. I collected a few logs while at the track and have been street driving it since. I now have 300miles on it and Im happy other than a weird idle surge I cant get rid of. Im not using the IAC so I thought the idle would be rock steady like it was on my Pimp'd 2.3 Ranger was without a IAC. Not so here. First off I couldnt find any good info on dead time settings for these Ford 24lb injectors. Right or wrong I asked a buddy what he set his FMS 36lb at and used that {1.200}. Not sure if this is the cause of my issue. The other question is in regards to the Enrichment settings in the controller as shipped. It seems my surge goes away after Ive drivin the car a bit and its good and warmed up. These are settings I never touched on my 2.3 Pimp setup. Based on your description of current "problem" a idle log of warm-up showing surge going away likely what we need.

Ok here are three logs from this morn. In order. The third one you can see as its getting warmer the AFR really starts to swing and the surge gets worse. First log its there a little but second log seems pretty steady. I tried to keep the files small. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAnd this is with the IAC unplugged. I tried plugging it in lastnite for the first time and as soon as it fired it ran up to 3000rpm and slowly came down to about 1200 and proceeded to settle into a 1000 to 1400 surge.

Your injector deadtime is WAY high if VE values of 28 are reasonable with anything but a giant cam. Not likely to be the cause of your surge.
As a whole it just looks lean warm.

Since I cant find any info on deadtime numbers for these injectors would it be safe to lower that figure until my idle VE numbers reach the 40-50 range?
My cam isnt very aggressive at .499/.510 224* @050

Well I changed deadtime to .900 and the idle VE numbers came up to the low 40s and I changed the target AFR in the idle cells to a bit richer at 14.2 and Im happy to say the car ran great lastnight and on my 30min cruise. I just let Autotune readjust the VE map while I drove around town and it never surged once.

Well I dont know if it has to do with the cold weather now but Im getting some serious surge now. Any chance you could look at these logs ? This is fully warmed up after a 15min drive. It was fine cold but once I got home it was a mess tryin to idle. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

I ended up putting a Vortech on the motor now and just started retuning. I just made some new timing, afr and VE tables up to 180kpa. I have only had it out twice street tuning and I havent seen any boost yet but Im still getting a surge when its fully warmed. I got the IAC working great and the cold start is perfect now but this hot idle surge has me scratching my head. Check out this short log of it idling. Attachment DeletedI made changes to the tune since this log so posting my tune right now might not show a real image of what is causing this. Going out to do some more driving and will post the current tune and another log later today. I know this isnt your product and the help you give is greatly appreciated but I am fully willing to shoot either of you a payment towards your time if you can help me with dialing in this tune.

Just for reference I ended up fixing the surge completely by adjusting the Idle Timing Advance from 15* to 25* and now its perfectly stable.I get a quick dip in idle speed when the fan kicks on but recovers quickly and continues rock steady.
