That's pretty amazing about the starion cooler!
I could run 23psi on pump fuel with no cooler or meth and then 30+psi with the meth spraying. I actually ran a holset hx35 full boost with the gate unhooked and no cooler or meth on pump fuel, my gauge only goes to 30psi but i think it was making around 38- 40psi. It never hurt the engine but i know i could have never made a full 1/4 mile pass with it, just a few street pulls on 93 octane.
I'm not sure if the blow through carb helps but it seems i can run more boost and timing than almost anyone else does.

The carb will help a bit because the fuel vaporizing helps to cool the air...you'll never convince me you weren't detonating though. These engines will take quite a bit of abuse before exploding though.

Very possible but i just tore it down after 3 years of street abuse and about 75 passes and the bearings and pistons looked mint. I might actually reuse the bearings but the rings i won't as my cylinder finish was too rough.

Tearing apart a strong running 2.3 is the best way to kill one. If I'm planning on running stock rod hp levels then I refuse to buy a shortblock if I can tell the oil pan has been off. I recently broke that rule in my DD and hope I dont regret it.

Whats wrong with tearing down the motor?

It just seems they typically run better and more reliably in stock form (at hp levels the stock shortblock can handle) than after the factory seal has been broken.

It sounds absurd but I'll dump water out of a virgin engine before I would trust anything thats been apart. Some of that is that I dont believe in quality of aftermarket parts. IF you are going to have one last you'll have to spend some money on the required A/M parts. I wouldnt rering one for the practice though.
