Can I use a OBD 1 code reader to read codes from the pimp ecu ?

No, the PiMP shares nothing with the stock ECU other than the case. There is no OBD output.
With that said, you have the ability to view every sensor's output so it's very easy to diagnose issues via live readings or datalogs. We can help with this if you post those files and your problems in the sppropriate support section.

Thanks. I am new to the tuning scene. Purchased an 85 Svo with your ecu already installed. Right now I'm having an issue with timing. Timing at idle was 30 degrees , now it hold steady at 18 degrees until throttle is applied. Also getting a random lean cycle at idle , comes and goes.

If you post in the appropriate ECU tuning section for your particular ECU (PiMP or PiMPx depending on which you have) then we can help you out. Be sure to include whether you have the documentation that is provided with the ECU on a USB flash drive. For the lean cycle at idle, you'd need to provide a copy of your tune and a datalog of it going lean. How to datalog is explained in the FAQ thread in the PiMP or PiMPx tuning section.

Thanks. I will post in the PIMP section. The previous owner could not find the flash drive. I have had someone else tune the car to get it running properly. How do I save the current tune in the ecu to my laptop.

File > Save Tune As, as explained in the FAQ thread in the PiMP section.
We can send you a startup guide once we figure out the version number of your ECU and such.

Found that I had a TFI going bad . I have replaced it and haven't had any issues going lean since . Could the TFI going bad caused the intermittent lean condition ?

No, but it can cause a misfire which will read lean (even though it's actually rich).
