Boosting 10 psi

I have Stingers single piston BPV that I am installing on a mostly stock SVO. I'm unsure of the proper orientation of the valve and what to do with the various springs that came with it.
It appears that the 1" port opposite of the vacuum/boost signal port should be on the pressure side of the turbo. Is that right?
I tested the springs to see at what vacuum they allowed the valve to open, and it looks like the one that was installed opens at about 5 inHG of vacuum, another at about 7 inHG and the third at about 14 inHG. Is the valve supposed to be open at idle? It seems that it will be on my engine that operates at about 38 kPa at idle, which translates to around 18 inHG of vacuum. What is the purpose of having different spring rates?

You are correct on the orientation. The side port goes back into the intake pipe/hose pre-turbo.
It will be open at idle. Since it's recirculated it doesn't matter and if you had enough spring pressure to hold it closed at idle it would be stubborn to open when it should.
Just leave the spring in it that came in it. The stiffer rates make it "harder" to get to open (like it would only dump after a full boost pull vs opening after a mild pull of a few psi).
