I’m converting my 88TC’s brakes to a vacuum assist setup. I’m using an 89GT brake booster with an 85 SVO MC (I also have SVO front calipers). I’m adjusting the pushrod on brake booster but noticed that there’s some play in the pushrod itself; about a quarter inch or so. My question is; should I base my adjustment of pushrod length on the pushrod being fully extended (outward) or fully pushed in (inward)?
I know when the car is started, the vacuum will cause the brake booster diaphragm to set but I don’t know which way (inward or outward) Thanks for the help!

Maximum Motorsports site has a write up on it. I just went through this with my 93 switching to 5 lug. From my trial and error my measurements were made with the rod in. I’m still working out brake issues but this part of it seems to be good with a good pedal feel

I feel your pain with the brake issues. This swap has been one hell of a learning experience.

I agree it was a pain getting parts and getting actual info that was correct. I’m Fighting rear end issues at the moment but I think it will all be solved when I install my new ring gear and stuff. Still have to play with the brake bias valve and get my pedal feel 100% how I like it. All in all I’m happy with the swap. I’m just ready to jump on my engine and drive line. The whole n/a 2.3 is a bummer lol

I've redone the brake lines for the new MC three times because I wasn't happy with it. I started off with MaximumMotorsports brake line kit and the wildwood proportioning valve but I wasn't happy with the how it turned out and my first attempt at flaring brake lines was awful. I ended up with a SpeedwayMotors compact proportioning valve and I'm really happy with how the lines are now.
Also, I called MaximumMotorsports tech department today and confirmed that the pushrod should be fully INWARD when making adjustments; don't apply any pressure to it but make sure it is fully inward.
