Ok, I'm a wannabe, a nimrod... but I'm serious and determined with goals in mind. Consider me a clean slate. here goes: I have an '89 LX notchback that's completely stock(2.3/AOD/7.5 REAR). My goals are 400-450hp, and handle like a slot car. 5-spd manual, maybe SC type 17x9 wheels all the way around, and pump gas. Is this doable? Where do I need to start? What would be the best donor car? Teach me, oh great masters of turbo fourdom...please?

Well, the first lesson for a person in your situation is to use the information that is presented for you. That means hit up the FAQ section and read, read, read. Also if you look at my site, you'll see a few project cars that started out just like yours and one had an engine in that hp range, the other had suspension like you mention...you just have to look at it. It is much more useful to UNDERSTAND the information, rather than just have someone tell you what to do as you follow along blindly.
Once you've absorbed the information available (not just looked at, actually read) then you will have a pretty good idea of what it takes and be able to ask some more specific questions that you haven't found the answer to, or need more specific information.

I second that....what you want to do is obtainable, but take a look at this and other sites to get what you want. I would say that you are gonna have to look at aftermarket engine management systems to get that hp. Go explore, learn and come back with some questions on more specific lines - I would suggest. www.svomustang.blogspot.com
