That should be a handful with all of the additional torque even if the engine is mostly stock.

The car is still in the works, but I am so close to completing it. I can not wait to drive this thing.

After driving the car six months or so, I would like to send the head out to boport to get ported, fitted with a cam, valves, and springs. I would like to be able to make a reliable 350-400 HP if possible.

I think you maybe safe with that row cage at 350-400HP but if you have to start adjusting the doors maybe a few more tubes. but it will be fun checking. if i didnot live CA. i would have a 2.3T in mine but SMOG stops me. on a good day you will be able to smoke the tires till they POP.

Dang, SMOG laws ruin everything. I wanted to make door bars, but I might eventually just put a full cage in it with the aluminium door panels so it fits. but then again, I dont think a full cage would be ideal for a DD though because I could smack my head on it in the case of a small accident. I already have a hard time fitting in that Sparco Sprint seat.

I set the boost to only 5 lbs so I can get the hang of tuning before I turn it up. The stage four clutch was definitely a mistake. I should have listened to the warnings. I was only trying to get it to cruise in this video, but the throttle is extremely touchy. This car feels extremely fast to me at only 5 lbs of boost, so I can not imagine what it is going to be like at 15-18 lbs, if I even set it there.

Sure looks/sounds pretty snappy so I think you're right that it's likely pretty quick already. These engines make WAY more TQ than the Miata engine, even if at the same peak power level. A well built 2.3t can make 250hp or so at 5-6psi.

It is definitely more of a handful than I expected to say the least, just as it is at 5 lbs. After I figured the tuning part out better, It just boils the tires from down low in second gear with a little more than half throttle. I definitely need some good sticky tires before I put a tag on it.

I assume the stock hood won't clear the cam gear? If so, what are you going to do for a hood?

It actually clears the cam gear, but the only places it slightly makes contact is at the fitting on the valve cover and the upper intake. I just need to trim some of the webbing underneath the hood.
