THANK YOU

It won't hurt power much but it will get hot. That's how cat's work is getting hot enough to make chemical property changes happen to convert "bad stuff" into "not so bad stuff". The conventional (not spun) cat's have a sort of integral shield that protects things from heat a bit more than the spun version.
Using a third muffler (resonator) depends on how much clearance you have as a 3" ID resonator is like 5-6" OD and 14-20" long (sort of like a glasspack type muffler but without the flow restriction) but they will quiet it down significantly.

In that case, mufflers aren't the problem. What sort of tailpipe/exhaust exit arrangement do you have? Full tailpipe that exits out the back or side or something that dumps under the car?

SHANNON the sound right now would be fine for most people. BUT my floors are wood and the car is a 29 modelA 4door . get alot of noise in the car when i had just a stock muffler it was quiet. then i put in your 3in. down pipe to the 14419 13in pipe to a oval magnaflow to over rearend than a 45% then out to the side of the car maybe 1in. past body/fender line,, THANK YOU LANDY

OK, was just making sure it wasn't dumped under the car as that adds a LOT of sound inside even though it's not louder outside.

UPDATE: I took out the 2 magnaflow mufflers and put in a big muffler in and now the car is real quite . maybe the spool time is a little slower but that is ok i took the car in the hills and it run fine . os iam happy if i give up alittle power to be able to drive for 6 hours then that is ok . THANKS

UPDATE i had to much power loss so i took at the muffler and put in a longer magnaflow then i had and put in a resonator you could look thru and it so about the same for noise that i had with the muffler. i got back the spool time and power, i feel i do not care about spool time as much as i do about power running down the road. i do know how to make it quieter and that is to put a freeflow cat in my car i can not because my floors are made of wood and will burn .so this is the update to my muffler install. good or bad i always try to update . most of the time my road test are on the same roads and are about 150 miles . THANK YOU

I suspect you'd be OK with a cat if you put a heat shield between the cat and the wooden floor.

Our "normal" (not spun) cats have a small built-in shield on them.
