You got walked on!
How much boost? I'd assume that's a mid 13 second Mustang at best so it shouldn't be hard to hang with him...

Yea his car can run 13.30's. Im running 18psi w/ a t3/t4. I have my tune dialed in pretty good, but im not seeing full boost until like 4000 rpms. ... I think my exhaust is killing the car though. Its like a 2 1/2 downpipe into 2 1/4 pipe then through a muffler. Im goin to sawsall it off this weekend and see what happens. Also, could you watch the video again and tell me what you think the pinging noise is coming from my car towards the end of the video.

The pinging noise is detonation...it's trying to blow the headgasket or melt a piston I'd say your tune isn't as dialed in as you think it is (or it wouldn't be pinging). It's either lean or too much timing...and yes the exhaust is probably costing you 40+rwhp and making your engine more prone to pinging.

You have confirmed my suspisions! My timing is set to 12* with the spout out. My AFR is 12.5 through most of the rpm then richens up at higher rpm's. That straw of an exhaust is coming off this weekend! I will set the timing back to 10* and richen up the tune a bit before making a pull with open down pipe. Hopefully I will make that mustang have to go get some more performance parts next time we line up lol.

I'd aim for 11.8-12.0 throughout. The LA3 provides plenty of timing at 10* BTDC and stock boost so when you raise the boost and the base timing, you create a situation where it's commanding way too much timing for the conditions.

Well im back to running open 2.5" downpipe. I have not done any full pulls yet, but I can def tell a huge difference in spool up time. Torque comes on much earlier in the rpm range. Tomorrow I will put the base timing back to 10* and get the laptop out for some pulls. Hopefully I will be able to hang with that mustang next time we run.

The mustang went by you like you were tied to a pole. nice dig tho, I see someone brought their shovel at least . I saw a mustang with a CAI run high 12s on that tv show Pass Time a few months ago, this was on street tires. 13.3's sounds about right for most of them though with bolt ons. My Honda cut a 13.2 and the mustangs I would play with I would get out on about a car and hold the entire way. Tuning can do a lot for these turbo cars. And your exhaust was like trying to cram a fat chick into an airplane bathroom. Spend the $100 and get one of Stinger's down pipes and just leave it at that. Im interested to see how the re-match goes.

Just don't let the extra noise mess up your butt dyno. This is common; it will def come up faster but don't expect to set the world on fire. You do have less of a bottle neck but there's still one there.

Well here is an update: I have converted over to speed density and I am waiting on my map sensor to come in the mail tomorrow, then I can begin the tuning. It felt good to toss the VAM. If I get the car up and running the rematch will happen this sat. night.
Oh and I can thank the 275 M/T drag radials for getting me out of the hole so hard ha.

I'd suggest leaving more than a few days to tune it before racing again...
