long story short. Im planning auto behind my 2.3 with turbo. Head been ported larger valves, cutom intake, stage 3 cam, custom header, GTX3076r turbo, 3 inch ex. Ive made an adapter to run 350turbo, a. they cheap b. you can buy all you need for them, c. can hold power. I plan on 30lbs boost, running 20 now and ford trans is wiped. My quesiton is who would be a solid source for a good converter. Everything is v8 spec on stall. If I get one to loose it will kill power and to tight and will have alot of lag time. Thanks for any help

I don't really know who the best source would be for that odd combo. What I can say is the odds of them nailing it on the first try is slim to none (very difficult to make a converter for an engine that makes maybe 50hp pre-boost and 8+ times that amount once the boost hits). So using a company that offers free/discounted re-working of the converter is a must.

Shannon, do you mind if I comment on this, as I am running a 2004R behind my 2.3?

I don't mind, that's what forum discussions are for.

Thanks, Shannon.
90Boost, can you supply some more info? 1- Are you using the Ford flexplate, say from an A4LD, or are you using a GM flex which requires a crank adapter. You can check the Dacco T/C catalog which you can download from the Transtar( Dacco's parent company) website. Dacco is a Major T/C manufacturer. If you do, ignore the GM section, and go to their "Performance Plus" pages. There you will find a multitude of their racing 9-10" Torque Converters for the 350, with stalls from 1900-4500 RPMs. The reason I asked how you plan to attach the T/C to the crank, is because if you use the Ford flex, you will need a custom front on the T/C. Dacco can easily do this, but you have to bypass the normal customer process, and contact the factory in Tenn. You WILL have to figure all the details for the mods you require, and then supply drawings to their design engineer Larry Elman, who is super great to work with.
I was able to get a custom made, GM 9-1/2" TC with Ford front, 32-3700 RPM lock-up T/C for $350. I did have to re-drill the Ford Flex. but that is to be expected. Their jig is set for GM's 3-bolt pattern and to change their jig to a 4-bolt would have doubled the cost. All they did was adjust the bolt circle diameter to match Ford's.
THAT SAID!...If you are using the GM Flex and a crank adapter, like the Bentzen trans adapter, just talk to Dacco and the Performance Plus T/C will bolt right up!

I should have included that the Performance Plus section of the Dacco catalog shows plenty of racing T/Cs for all types of transmissions. They have multiple stall ranges for C4s-C6s-etc What made me decide to use Dacco, is that I looked at a popular aftermarket High Performance T/C box, and it was made by Dacco! The company simply rebranded the Dacco T/C, and added 50% to the price!
Dacco was able to take a 30-spine 700R4 T/C and change it to a 27 spline to fit my 2004R! THAT is customer service, IMO.

Kenny at PTC did mine (as he has all my converters over the years).
I'll let you in a couple of weeks if he nailed it- it's supposed to flash to about 3800 and be good to about 4400 on the brake.
