Hello, I am about to purchase a new turbo but would like some help in which direction to go. I am hoping to build to 600hp in the long run. I would like to know if the stock ported e6 with a Borg Warner efr with the internal bov would be a good call. Would I be better off with a header, external bov and a different turbo. I do plan on running this in the Mile long and hopefully Two mile events. I know I have not provided a lot of in information, but I needed a place to start.
I do have to pimpxs going to sequential fire after turbo and ported intake installed updating fuel system now bottom end to be built soon head will likely be a bo-port 3.xx
Thank You, Cary

600hp from 140 cubic inches is going to be a "max effort" type build as that's a number very few people reach So you'd be looking at a header instead of the E6. There are large EFR's that support that power level and they are certainly a great performing turbo. They have really good turbo sizing calculators available for the EFR's to pick both the compressor and turbine.
Remember we've got the rods and pistons to support that sort of power.

Hello,
That is the answer I was expecting. I know you no longer have a header that you offer, is there one you can recommend? I know the Bo-Port is on the high side but if that is the way to go then I guess that will be it. I do have a block and I need to get to the machine shop to have inspected and measured to see what I can bore to before I order the rods and pistons.
Let me ask another question. Will the stock ported intake support that kind of power with a larger throttle body? I have not seen any options for aftermarket intakes for the turbo set-up.
Thank You, Cary

Bo and Randy Heinlen are the only two quality header builders I'm aware of.
At that power level you'll need to use "hard blok" to stabilize the bores. Don't bore it larger than necessary, the engine size barely changes but the cylinder walls get thinner (weaker). We tell people not to go larger than 0.030" max for a turbo build (and smaller if the block will allow it). Hard blok has to be in the block before it is bored.
One of Bo's CNC intakes may support that much power but you'd likely make more power with a custom plenum style intake with a large (2.3 liter+) plenum.

Hello,
I did not figure on the Hard Block route and wonder if I would have cooling issues with the time at high high rpm I plan to see. I have made contact with some of the aftermarket intake producers and they are not willing to do anything with a 40 year old motor where they will never recoup the initial cost. The only route would be a custom "one off" Is there a link for Randy Heinlen?
Thank You,Cary

You wouldn't do a complete fill of the block, you'd do a 3/4 fill so it's up to the middle of the water pump opening (put something where the water pump goes to keep room for the pump). There is no cooling issues with it when you do this as all of the heat is in the top 1/4 of the cylinder anyway. We drove a 2.3 with a 3/4 fill on Hot Rod Drag Week a few years ago without issue.
Yes, it would need to be a one-off intake. As I said, Bo's CNC intake would likely support the power as well so if you want the easy button method, do that.
Easiest method to locate him is likely Facebook. He just does headers on the side, he doesn't have a website or anything.

I did look at the Bo-port intakes and I think that is the way I will go. I like that I can get a fuel rail along with the adapter from you to run the Kirban I already purchased but have not installed. I will also probably get one of his headers also. The Hard Blok will be on the way soon.
Next thing I need to look at is your CAS set-up.
Thank you, Cary

Sounds like a plan.
