I have this crazy high idle. The car will start and idle nice, but once the engine is warm, say above 150 F, the RPMs will start climbing all the way to 2500+ out of nowhere. The first time it happened I pulled over and I shut the car off because the RPMs were getting close to 3000. I checked the throttle thinking it was caught up but it was closed when the RPMs climb.
I pulled codes (KOEO) from the EEC (8UA) and got:. 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, and 88.
I checked online and code 88 seems to a signal fault with throttle kicker solenoid? Is this the IAC valve?
Has anyone got this code before?

88 can be any of these things depending on the application:
-Throttle Kicker Solenoid -Variable Voltage Choke relay circuit fault -Fan Control circuit fault -A4LD - Converter Clutch Override solenoid -Electronic Ignition - IDM, DPI or spout circuit fault
Next time it idles fast, unplug the IAC or restart the engine and it should stop. I'd suspect a dirty IAC.

When I restart the car the idle will be normal, around 900 RPM, but about 10 sec later they will climb again and hang around 2000+. Tapping the throttle will not settle it. When the RPMs are hanging, if I unplug the IAC they drop below 900 and the engine almost stalls. When I plug it back in with the engine running, the RPMs will go right back to 2000+. I checked the IACs resistance and the 12 V voltage supply at the harness. Both meet spec. Next I'll check and clean the IAC. If that doesn't help, then I'll check the voltage going to the EEC. I would have done that by now, but back probing the wire is a pain without alligator clips on the meter's leads. I'll be back.

Ok, here is an update for anyone following this thread and for the future topic searchers......
I cleaned the IAC with some brake cleaner and let it dry over night. I Installed it back on the car and it seems to of helped. Its been several days, and I only had one situation where there was a high spike in the idle. However, when I restarted the car the idle dropped to normal. Its been good since.
