I'm not aware of any yet. There is a V8 guy that will have before/after track info but I don't think he's done the "after" test yet. Most people either 1) don't put it on a dyno or 2) change other stuff at the same time. There are also a ton of variables that effect the "after" gains. Obviously something that's nearly stock won't gain much but something that's limited by stock injectors or something and can't be "turned up" until the ECU is installed could see huge gains (like 100hp+).

Thanks for the quick reply, the reason I ask is because I just bought a 1988 turbo coupe nhra stocker (R/S ) the car seems to have lots of good pieces but yet missing some basic stuff, here is what it has that I know of. it weighs 3600 lbs. 1)255 intank pump 2)adjustable fuel regulator 3)RC injectors 4)intercooler fan 5)4.88 rear 6)spool and axles 7)strange 4" drive shaft with billit yokes and solid joints 8)9x28 M&H slicks 9)gillis boost valves 10) hays SFI flywheel, clutch and pressure plate 11)fresh engine rebuild with .20 over trw forged pistons
some things it has that I intend to upgrade, 1)unported stock E6 2)stock head with factory valves and stock slider cam 3)stock LA2 ECU 4)IHI turbo with no play in shaft (must run IHI for this class) 5)stock 2.5 down pipe cut off just under passenger floor area 6)no air filter no VAM
the reason I am listing all this is because this sounds like an easy 13 second car,its not it only runs high 14s, after checking basic stuff it has autolite plugs gapped at .30 and all new motorcraft ignition parts, timing is set at factory specs.
I was thinking of upgrading to a pimp and a stinger header and a ranger roller and followers and a stinger 3" down pipe, my question is would a header and a pimp help this combo once I figure out why it is so slow.

With an IHI I wouldn't expect the header to help as much as it would on something with a larger turbo. I understand you can't upgrade the turbo to run in the class. It would help to have a 3" downpipe though.
I wouldn't install a Ranger roller cam either. What's your cam limitations? Stock lift but everything else is fair game? You need to get a custom cam ground.
You also need to pull some weight out of it. Not sure how limited you are there but I know a guy with a 2700lb TC that looks stock weight. You should be able to pull at least 300 pounds out of it pretty easy.

Im going to get a 3" downpipe very shortly,it is lightened up pretty good but it has to weigh 3400 lbs for the class, roller followers are allowed so im going to send a RR core to one of the big cam manufacturers for a stocker regrind, like you said it must be .400 lift but anything else is good,I had a 2900# notch with only a 255 walbro, gillis boost control ,K&N cone, adj. FPR, stock down pipe, stock IHI and an unported E6, with only a 3.55 rear and it went 13.90s with 174,000 miles on the motor so I hope this thing can go mid 13s, but I really would like to see if anyone with a similar combo picked up with a PIMP ECM before I order one. I like the fact that the pimp looses the VAM I think that alone should help. let me know what you think. thanks...........fred

I know the two fastest 2.3T stockers (national record holders running 11's) run standalone ECU's. Neither runs a PiMP as those cars were built before the PiMP was available but any standalone can provide the same "gains", it's just a matter of how easy it is to get the tune dialed in. They both are cars that can run T3 turbos though which support more power than the IHI.

The index for this class is 13.95 so I think once I get it sorted out and running it should be able to run under that number,i just put plates on it and drove it and it runs great till you start building boost at 12 lbs it starts popping real bad, once I tune it up and get it running right im going to order the down elbow with turbo exhaust outlet for now and I would like to get a pimp over the winter.

Good news for my turbo coupe project! I finally got to tune up my car today, last week I ordered autolite plugs, motorcraft wires and a motorcraft ignition module, well I gapped my new plugs at .25 and installed them with the new wires and BAM! 18 lbs of boost and it pulls all the way to 6000 rpm's and NO miss, now I gotta get to the track to get a base line ET before the track closes! thanks for all your help guys, Shannon I will be sending you my outlet to weld on the down pipe shortly.

Hey I was curious about the stocker class racing thing and it looks like the ECU has to be on an approved list to make sure its not cheated up. Ha. That alone would get expensive considering the NHRA overcharges for everything.
Stocker Ive always kept my daily driver (similar to your mod list) where I can swap back and fourth between an LA3 and a pimp. I would consider doing a before and after dyno with no other changes if enough people are really curious. Keep in mind though on a stockish setup ford didnt do too bad lol

I only changed my injectors when I switched over. I was at 225rwhp 233tq with cai/stinger fmic/and home ported lower,23 psi and gutted upper(was running lean af). Switched to pimp and 42# injectors and made 257rwhp and 317tq. I have dyno sheets I'll add to show the difference in the pulls

Wow, I didn't expect to see that much of a gain. Will be interesting to see the dyno sheets.

Hmm, looks like air temp difference was part of the gain but not all of it, especially since it was also more humid than the first time around. How lean was the AFR before the swap and was it only lean over a certain RPM or was it lean all over?
