I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experiences in doing the LA3 eec conversion using the inline intake vs the 4sq intake, assuming the act sensor is retrofitted to the inline as part of the change. I'm getting ready to do this for a basically stock 2.3 with only mods being atr and 3" exhaust and cai. I use an older HKS evc for boost control.
For instance, does the ks really register more knocking with the inline vs the 4sq? The inline seems like it would yield a torqier airflow than the 4sq, but I am just conjecturing here.
Any experiences and insights would be appreciated. Thanks in advance - jim

Performance between the two intakes is basically the same. The knock sensor typically retards timing even when the engine is not detonating regardless of which intake you use. Adding some teflon tape to the threads can help to minimize this.

LA3 does not pay too much attention to the ACT sensor either. It just adds more timing when temps are down but other then that the ACT is not used by the ECU.
