With the VAM what does it mean opened up for blow through? and is that a good upgrade set up with the computer and larger vam and injectors over a stock 85 SVO comp/vam/injectors?

What that means is I the plastic top is removable. This was done to tweak the vam spring and get the Air /fuel right for when I ran the vam in blow through. But I marked the original position so the vam could be reset to factory. Your 85 uses a small vam so I guess this would be a good upgrade?

Why is this set up for sale cheaper than the other VAM and LA3 w/o injectors you have for sale? Which would be better for me? Are both set up's a "plug and play" kinda thing?

This one is cheaper because I opened up the Vam and opened the La3 case making them in my mind worth less than the unopened Vam, and the injectors are a bonus. They are both plug and play but you may have to play with the vam spring on the one I opened because as stated it is set up for blow through.

Is that lower intake year specific or will it work on any year? Would I need to buy a ported upper to make it work or would that just be added power to the whole thing and the lower will work fine with a stock upper?

This lower is an 86 so it has no provision for the air temp sensor To take advantage of the way this intake is ported you should run a gutted upper and a ported head. If you ran a stock upper the upper would be the bottle neck.
