Having some issues getting my 88 Tbird running again. I recently let it sit for a long time as I was waiting for some parts to come in and now the car won't run well at all.
Symptoms: Rough idle, runs pig rich (idle and cruising). Wants to stall Boosts to 5psi, hesitates, then stumbles for a bit, then boosts to 10+psi...but very slowly.
My turbo usually spikes boost very quickly, it's acting as if timing is being pulled on the high end as soon as I get to 5psi.
I DO NOT HAVE A KNOCK SENSOR. Brand new ACT New TPS New VAM New Dissy/rotor/cap New ECT sensor
Here is the weird part. I disconnected the VAM, and it ran fine...for the most part. It drives fine, with some decent A/F ratios. It boosts to 10psi (no matter how much I close my boost controller). There is a very obvious loss of power on the top end (I have a hard time passing hybrid civics on the highway).
Someone at Merkursport said these are the exact symptoms of EEC failure. Any truth to this?
So in a nutshell, it runs like nuts with a VAM, and is drivable without a VAM.

After wasting time testing VAM's and looking for a spare LA3, my friend noticed that my throttlebody charge pipe wasn't on completely.
I tightened the clamp back up, and voila.
Oddly enough it produced enough of a leak to mess up my car with a VAM, but make it run perfect without one....weeeirrrddd.

Well, too bad he didn't see that before you bought all the new parts
