okay i have run into a problem, when i pulled the engine from my 88 TC i cleaned it up and painted it, new seals and gaskets, so far so good. but this was awhile ago and i also ported and cleaned/painted the intake manifold. finally got ready to actually take the notch off the road to do the swap and start looking over info again to refresh my memory and i read that i should use the stock (2.3 NA) intake manifold and injector wiring harness.... Flemworld even says to use the NA oil pan...... help. do i have to port the NA intake now and use it's harness? or can i use the TC intake and NA harness? will be performing the swap this week depending on the answers i get....
thank you

i also notice on the NA intake it has a coolant line running out of the rear of the lower intake manifold. the TC one doesnt. and where there is a nipple for the coolant line on the TC manifold there is a sensor on the NA manifold

You can run either one, you'll just have to adjust for the variation in sensor location and such.

sweet... thanks. i can extend wires faster than i can re-port an intake...... ummm... this is gonna sound real dumb to someone that has so much experience with these.... but what is the sensor at the bottom of the lower intake on the NA manifold, in the area occupied by a hose nipple on the TC engine? and where is it on the TC motor. just has a one wire hook up. im guessing coolant gauge sensor? am i right?

nope not right looking at it closer the NA has 3 one wire hook up sensors. the TC only has 2 .....i know i can do this i'm not dumb but dang.

One wire "sensors" are always senders for the gauge cluster or fan. If it's in the intake then it has to be coolant temp which can either go to the temp gauge or the fan.

oh i'll bet it's the fan since the TC uses the IRCM to switch on the fan, and that is signaled from the ECM i believe so it wouldn't have that switch... makes sense no? thanks dude you rock....... so in theory i should be able to use it and the stock NA fan will work right?

The fans just ground to turn on (through the fan temp sender) and the TC uses the ECM to control the dual fan setup (how many fans to run at a given time).

The one wire sensor on the lower intake, that faces the driver's side fender, is to control the fan on and off. That is assuming your fan relay under the dash by the steering column is still good. We went with a fan relay from Summit and wired our turbo coupe dual fan up with it since a stock replacement fan relay is $80.
