Well i went back to the track with new holset and cannot 60" for crap and went 13.50 @103. It is way slow and i found a few issues. I was not getting full throttle, holley 350 was to small, fuel line too small, carb falling off base plate. I came home and tried my holley 500 and it picked up very well. I then tried a holley 650 double pumper and it runs awesome, most think it's way big. I cannot believe how well it runs with the huge carb. I now need and intercooler as my intake temps are killing it, and i need a two step and some slicks. It went 13.50 with 2.0 60" so it would have gone 13.10 if i could drive right LOL. Any suggestions on ignitions with 2 step?

MSD and Mallory both make good ignition boxes with 2 step. The Mallory is cheaper and arguably more reliable.

Well another test session complete. I made a few changes since last outing, 500 carb over 350 carb and powerstroke intercooler. The weather was slowing most cars down one tenth today. I went 13.01 @107.28 with crappy 1.95 sixty. The car is hard to launch as it wants to bog then spin the tires, so i must get a two step. It will go 12.60 with decent 60' and better air then i would like to crack high 11's with just a ported head. It has monroe sensa track shocks and stock springs so it is by no means a drag car. I would like to see how much front and rear drag shocks help as it is so hard and gets no transfer now, but don't want a sloppy street car.

That's a pretty good mph, certainly has a lot more in it with a proper launch.

when i went to the track with my 2.3 turbo mustang i would launch at around 5500 rpm, any lower and it would boggg and wheel hopp bad with the t5 man. trans i badly need a 2 step for it too so i can lower my launch and build some boost off the line. make sure you have a 6al box from msd if choose that brand bc i have a 6a i need to send back to them for a 30 dolllar upgrade to the 6al

Well back from another track outing and not good luck again. I figured out why my car won't hook and it's because the trac lok is beat so new clutches soon and back for another try. It ran 13.2 @ 110 mph with a 2.2 60'. I think it will go 12.40ish next time. I am finishing porting one of my heads and will have a 5 angle valve job done and also port the intake further. Hoping to pick up 40-50hp and crack into the 11's with all stock 2.3 except ported head and holset turbo.

Nothing is easy...you're gaining each time though so that's a positive!

Well another frustrating track day again. My trac lok clutches are new and set tight with new kyb rear shocks installed and i thought it would hook but it didn't. My freaking front strut stuck in the bottomed out position and the car was leaning real hard and getting no transfer. I have never seen such a thing before! The whole cars leans and handles funny, I have noticed a harsh ride lately also. I ended up running 12.91 @ 109.27mph with a 1.89 sixty. I at least broke 12's but was hoping much better. it was the last track event and i spent all week rebuilding the rear clutches, u joint, sleeved the crank as the rear main leaked all for just non sense. Has any one used the Strange 10 way struts? are the good for street use?

I have the strange ten ways and they didnt work too well at the track for me but they work great on the street. on the street i set them at 6 any higher and they wont hook just free spin the rear tires. Did you do front struts to help with weight transfer? And did you use any aftermarket control arms?

Well a few more changes and more track testing. I have replaced the HY35 with the stock T3 pushing 25psi, larger alky spray pre compressor and added a 1" carb spacer and also my own made carb hat. I was expecting 112mph and 12.50 but wheel spin hurt me again and went 12.90 @ 111.55mph so i was very close on HP but ET sucked with a 2.2 60". I need some slicks and a retest. It seems i'm making 345-350Hp which is great for a stock turbo but need the ET to come down with it. What a blast beating new vettes and mustangs with my stock daily driver 2.3!

That's moving right along for a stock T3.

Thanks stinger it weighs 3100 with me in it, power seats, power mirrors, power windows full street car minus the AC. I'm up in the air on drag shocks with my existing drag radials or just trying slicks with my existing shocks? either way it will cost about the same. I might try to find cheap shocks possibly used just to see how much it would help, tires will be like $400.00 new and that will keep me from getting my 2.3 powered nissan 240sx on the road even longer!

Slicks will get you much more than shocks will. Old worn out shocks are the "next best" option to actual drag shocks. 1.5x 60 ft are possible with slicks and old worn out shocks (and a manual trans or high stall converter).

OK cool i will give slicks a try, it's so frustrating leaving easy and boiling the tires! The 60' are just embarrasing. I would be happy with a 1.7 at this point.
