well i found my antifreeze leak, and its coming from the turbo, where i have no clue, i was under it for the clutch swap and i see it beading off the turbo..
how essential is the coolant to the turbo? some tell me its ok to not have it water cooled, some say its gonna ruin it... what gives?

If it's a T3, it's not really important, just make sure you let it idle down a bit before shutting it off.

Do you need to plug the Turbo coolant hole or ok to just leave it open?

You can leave it open if you have to, though it may be less prone to cracking further if there isn't cold air blowing through it.

No, IHI's have better functioning water passages and should be ran with coolant.
