i am swapping the tranny from my 88 turbo coupe into a 90 2.3 mustang that was a auto tranny. i will be using the hydraulic clutch set up from the turbo coupe. i have read over the swap article in the tech pages numerous times, my question is regarding wiring. 1st: Is the clutch pedal switch the same as far as wiring goes between the t-bird and mustang ? or does anybody know the wire color differences ? 2nd: also for the reverse light switch same question as above.
3rd: (this is an aside question) i have a 88 mustang 2.3 t5 sitting in my shop right next to the turbo coupe tranny. the mustang tranny has two electrical pigtails and the turbo coupe only has one...... why would a manual tranny have two electrical pigtails? one for the reverse lights..... what is the other one for?

I used a TC system to write that article.
I can't remember what the other plug is for...mine had two as well.

also i am using the hydraulic turbo coupe set up and petals you had a cable operated set up. should be the same wiring?

I swapped an '88 turbo coupe 5 speed into my '88 Mustang 2.3 auto car. Prior to buying the turbo coupe donor car I bought a complete 5 speed set up out of an '88 mustang from the junk yard. The Mustang trans has the connector on the top of the trans and the turbo coupe trans did not. Vary strange. The connector on the top of the Mustang trans would indicate if the trans was in neutral or not (I put an ohm meter on it and shifted the gears). The original '88 turbo coupe trans did not have that top connector and had no provisions on the top of the trans for that connector. I took the reverse light harness off the side of the Mustang 5 speed, put it on the side of the Turbo Coupe 5 speed, and hooked the VSS and reverse connectors up to the stock Mustang auto trans body harnesses and that is how I am running today. Reverse lights work, no cutting or splicing required, just plug it in.
I also have the Mustang 5 speed trans harness from the junk yard car and it has the extra connector on it to plug into the top of the trans. But the '88 Turbo Coupe I bought did not have that top connector on the trans and the original unmoldested trans harness on the body of the car did not have a plug for it either.
