I have a 88 Turbo Coupe that i want to convert over to Maf, ive tried to get on Turbo Ford but their not taking new members. I have a shop that is going to tune it for me so my question is whats the best way to do it for a daily driver/auto cross, blow thur or draw thru and does any one have a wiring diagram and tips on the best way to do it . The other question some things i read say you dont need the act sensor some say you do, it seems the more posts i read the more im confussed. Thanks for any help...

How is the shop going to tune it? The shop should be the ones to decide whether they want it draw thru or blow thru since it's mostly a difference in tuning. Try this link as well: rothfam.com/maf/doc-project/

IM not sure what they have in mind to tune it with ive got to send them the computer an all my mods. to the motor and they will give me a base tune to get it running then im going to take the car to them to get the final tune on there dyno, they said the could install a switch that would let me choose between 4 tunes if i wanted but the only way they would fool with it is if i convert it to maf. The links you sent me helped sumwhat but what do you suggest on the way i go about doing it ? The shop is Modular Depoit have you heard of them ?

You need to figure out what type of tuner/chip they are going to use. Most of the "newer" tuning options don't work on our old ecu's. They may very well be promising something they can't provide.

moates.net carries a few different versions of what you need. The quarterhorse is the "fancy" option which makes tuning easier because it can datalog all inputs in the ecu. The "cheap" option is the F3 chip and then you need the burner and software to go along with it.

Check into the quaterhosre ive got one on the way, i also got the binary editor they said it was pretty user friendly, lets hope so. In your opinion what should i do, draw thru maf, blow thru, or stay with the vam ? And if i go maf which air flow meter do i need to get ?

Your best bet is to get whatever matches the bin file you can find to start with. Many like the 05+ Mustang sensor. Draw thru or blow thru is personal preference as both seem to work well.

I don't know what application that part number matches up to but any large maf will work as long as you can get the transfer function for it.
Most people are now switching to the Ford 05+ Slot style sensors.

I would assume so on the act sensor but i'm not positive. I don't know of anything that plugs into the vam plug aside from the vam.

Does anybody out there have a wiring diagram on the Vam connector to the 05 slot type MAF connector, still can't get my membership on Turbo Ford straightened out, and not getting any replies on Bo Ports forum either. The Mas air flow conversion topic is a issue that hard to get a straight answer on. Thanks for any help someone can give me....

You can search turboford without signing up. The diagram has been posted there.
