OK have two mustangs one is a 79 with a 87 2.3t coupe motor in it and then i have a 84 svo all stock. now my 79 has just a straight open down pipe that goes right out after the front tire no muffler or cat and i love the sound of it. Its a loud deep rumble but i like loud cars. now i just bought this svo about a month and a half ago and its way to quiet so i pulled the muffler of and the cat and ran a straight open down pipe but tell me way this car sounds like a Honda with a hole in the pipe its the same motor in my 79 ? why does it sound so much different it sounds like nuts

A lot of it is because it's dumping under the car, not out the side. The sound reverberates off the bottom of the car and the ground, changing the sound. The size of the downpipe will change the sound as well.
