Hey all. Finally put my truck together enough to make a thread.
I've built several 2.3's for my truck, but this is my first turbo build. It is a little unorthodox, but I am stoked to get it running!
The block came from an early nineties ranger like mine and was cleaned up and bored .030 over. I have a stock crank with crower sportsman 5.7 rods and JE forged flat top Pistons.
I have a 60mm t3/t4 that came from a junkyard mustang and FMIC. I have Pimpxs and most of the goodies, but I have no plans for sequential for now.
I am in the process of getting it all together, but I am having some clearance issues with the AC and outlet from the turbo even with the flip kit.
I'm just going to say thanks in advance because I am going to have a NUMBER of questions.
I'd be happy to hear any questions or comments on the build!

Sounds like a fun build!
Be sure to dial the timing back significantly for the added compression with those flat top pistons, especially if premium fuel is 91 octane where you live.

Thank you! I have access to 93 here in Fl, but I am planning on keeping boost around 15. I am really excited, It's been a pipe dream of mine since my dad handed me the keys in 2012.
I still have a few kinks to work out,but I"m looking forward to hearing this motor sing!

You'll still need to turn the timing down some as it's set for 93 octane and stock turbo compression (8:1) rather than 9.2:1 or so like you should have now.

It will more than likely be even higher since I have an 8 plug head. I know they have a slight smaller combustion chamber.

Yeah, I believe that is correct. Dual plug ignition also requires significantly less advance. I've not tuned on them much but I've seen others reporting running significantly less total timing than a single plug head (like 10 deg vs 18 deg).

Would it be smart to start with more timing and then dial it back? I am reading a lot of material on it now, as timing as a concept is something I am not super familiar with. (Keep in mind I am still a good ways away from cranking this motor for the first time)

No, too little is better than too much as far as safety is concerned.

Good to know. It's obvious I have some more reading to do!
Thanks!

I've got a fairly mild tune that I'm pretty happy with (7 lbs of boost, decent torque). I am trying to get my A/C configured, and I haven't been able to find much info on getting it going.

Post your question in the PiMPx section and state what you're trying to figure out and we'll get it resolved. Be aware that a/c function is not computer controlled, only the wide open throttle shut-off (and sometimes the fan) is.
