I am looking to upgrade my 87 TC to get some more oomph, I am looking at a Boost controller, to 18lbs to start with then replacing with bigrmotorsports.com/The T3 Stage 1, running same level of the boost 18-20, OF course the fuel pump looking at a walbro 255, What about injectors? the stock be fine, or should I upgrade them? What size if needed? Also, what kind of power on stock ECU etc etc, bar those changes would I be looking at? even exhaust is stock. Big thing would be just some help or guidance. Thanks, Nate

You can't upgrade the injectors with the stock ECU. A turbo upgrade alone won't really boost power much at all. It will lose torque and gain a little hp. The boost controller will add more power than the turbo upgrade. Starter here, it lists common mods, power gains, the order mods are typically done, how much power the stock parts support when completely maxed out, etc: www.stinger-performance.com/faq.html

So if I'm reading this properly, A good setup would be to get a Boost control valve, the PIMP system, fuel pump, and then go for the turbo and injectors hitting more akin to 22lbs of boost? I'll have to talk to a few people and eventually go that route. Want to ditch the VAM since it's a known issue on all 2.3t cars I've had.

Also For the tbird, would a stock T3 or the stock IHI be better? The T3 has that sound!

Yes, along with an exhaust kit and possibly a front mounter intercooler.
The stock IHI maxes out around 18psi, T3 is good for about 22-23psi. T3 also supports about 25-35hp more. It does spool slower though so it makes more HP and less TQ than an IHI typically. T3 obviously whistles like crazy.
