Hey stinger, or anyone really... A hose split and wasnt holding much if any psi to boost controller. Head gasket went. Not a big surprise. Just because im curious of it.. I was told the drivetrain had 80,000 on it when i got it. I honestly wasnt very concerned either way. Pulled my head today to find the factory bolts and the cylinders still have hatch markings in them, which leads me to believe that they probably told me the truth(now sure how long the hatching would hold honestly).. But it got me thinking also.. If its clean as it is, still has hatching, factory bolts, and everything else seems quite factory.. What were the factory head gaskets? The one on it was blue, and has "low" looking spots in between the cylinders. Possibly the first time its been appart since 84😂 also, would the factory bolts be better to reuse or just use the new tty ones i got? Going with the 8993 or whatever it is to be on the safe side for now untill i finally decide to build it, if that makes a difference on the bolt choice.

It was just a Ford/Motorcraft headgasket, similar in design to the Felpro 8993.
You can use the factory or TTY bolts. Note the torque process is different between them so be sure to use the torque process for the bolts you use. Also note that the stock bolts should be retorqued after a heat cycle (bring it up to full temp, let it cool off, pull valve cover and back off the first bolt in the sequence a 1/4 turn and then re-torque, then do the next, and the next).
I've seen good crosshatch on 200,000 mile 2.3T's before so it lasts a long time.

I found a "felpro" marking on the head from the gasket lol thats crazy the hatching stays that long though. No scoring though so that made me happy. I will probavly use the tty bolts i got and save the others for a rainy day.. Hopefully they are factory and reusable later being 12 point. Thanks stinger!

Stinger, i have the new head gasket and all.. But the coolant ports are different.. I got the felpro 8993, but the coolant ports on the gasket are small holes and its even missing one of the ports.. The ports in block and head are triangle. Is there a head gasket that has the triangle ports like its suppose to have? Or a way to make these hole on the HG match so the head doesnt over heat and warp?? Is this why they have problems with the head becoming warped?

It's how it's supposed to be. Just make sure it's not upside down.

You would know more than me🤷.. Iv seen gaskets with slightly different ports, not cut out quite as much, but never such a difference or missing ports. The old one you can see where it had blew a couple of them open to match the castings but others hadnt. Just wanted to be sure. Thank you!
