Hi Shannon, My question is a "General Automotive" one, but can certainly apply to our cars
Where should I connect a gauge sensor ground, when the gauge is not connected or monitored by the ECM? Will a general ground connection affect the sensor's info? Should ALL of these types of uses require the ground to be routed to the ECM ground? My specific application is a trans temp sensor. It has 2 wires, one is the feed to the gauge and the other is a ground. Is it ok to ground the sensor to the nearest Trans bolt, or should it be run back the ECM grounding system?

In general, a temp sensor will be fine grounded to chassis, or to ECU ground.
