Lets say I have an XR(or other non LA3 wired turbo 4 car...)
Lets say I have a V8.
Lets say I want to run one injector per cylinder, coil on plug(one coil pack per plug) and speed density.
Besides having to add some wiring to the stock harness for injectors and the ignition system, is there anything else special I would need to do to run the PIMP with a V8?
(NOTE: I've sent a few messages to Stinger about this, and he said it WILL work as I envision, but he was just a bit foggy on the details, which is ok, because I don't know richard about Megasquirt..lol)

Im no pro at this but since its made for the 4 cylinder it would only have 4 drivers for the injectors and you need 8 drivers for the V8. but since its MS it can be modded but then it would not be a PIMP anymore.

TurboTempo, the PIMP is setup to run both 4 cyl and V8's "as-is".
The only real thing that's out of the ordinary in the above scenario is the coil on plug setup (since it's not something Ford offered from the factory on eec-iv setups). The PIMP has an expansion port that can be used for this though.

wow Stinger you really really put the work in this thing. so in other words any eec-4 or eec-5 I4 or V8 can use this MS and it can be customized for them. wow.

No, it's an internal plug (to keep the ecu fitting in the factory hanger when required) but if you unscrew the case cover you can get to it and then run any additional wires required out of the service port.

In theory ANY eec-iv powered car (roughly 83-97 Ford) can use the PIMP. I say "in theory" simply because not all of them are/will be tested...

Keep in mind that to use any non distributor ignition system some means of providing crank position will be required. This would typically be a tooth wheel on the crank, and additional wiring through the expansion connector. Also, since this is MS2 based, a V8 can only be batch fired, and the coils (even if there is one per cylinder) will be fired in waste spark.
The first running PIMP was/is actually a 5.0 with TFI.

Will there be customer support to walk me through some of these expansion mods...or am I going to have to dial 1-800-GOOGLE?

What about the pimp with an e4od?

What about the pimp with an e4od? Is an e40d a true electronically controlled transmission, or does it simply need a few solenoids for tc lockup and OD shifting (like an AOD or a4ld)? If it is a true electronic transmission we can't support it directly, but there are applications for the microsquirt that turn it into a full (potentially standalone) transmission controller. If you wish to run this with a PIMP, they can communicate with each other over a can bus (giving the transmission controller all engine data it needs with only a 2 wire connection), and only the wiring directly to the transmission is required.

figure I'll jump in on this thread with a v8 related question. I bought a 89 maf engine harness for my 88 5.0 build. obviously though I can run the pimp as speed density with my single turbo setup.
can I go back to running the 88 speed density harness or do I need to keep with the 89 maf harness instead of selling it to get some money back? is there a difference in the pinout between the 88speed density harness and the 89 maf harness? or would the pimp have to be special built depending on which harness I go with?
I'm at the point where I'm simply waiting on my tax refund to purchase the last few build parts I need and get on the waiting list for one of these.
