hey guys odd ball question. me and my buddy need to buy a alternator and brackets for our car. where not useing a smog pump or power steering. wanted to know if any one made a brakets. and if any one can post pics of where its mounted would help out alot since when we got the car and the motor, the motor wasnt in the car and didnt have the alternator. where hopeing we dont have to mount it up high ie the setup when you have to rotate the intake 120.
so short easyer question what year alternator should we use and where can we get the brackets (hint stinger make some mounts)
if we have no luck i guess ill have to make a bracket.

There are both Ranger and Pinto brackets that mount it low and on the passenger side. They accept any ford alternator with straight across mounting (same as a stock alternator). You can run a stocker, 3G, 4G, 6G, etc. as long as it has the one long bolt, one short bolt, straight across from each other to mount it.
You can also mount the same alternators to the power steering pump bracket with a little work. That puts it low on the driver's side.

I don't have a list of years. The Rangers should be something like 96+ and the Pintos are....old...all years. Dang it...this is the first time I didn't have the answer on this forum...I may have to do some research  |

Shannon, you mean pulling the pump and replacing it with the alternator? I pulled the pump but I still mounted it on the top. You have any pic's of this done?

i made a bracket to mount my stock alternator where the PS pump used to be, removed all OEM brackets and i use a turnbuckle with heim joints to adjust it, turned out real clean and gives lots of room

i'll get one and try and upload it. working 12 hour days for the next two weeks straight. so might take awhile.
it's pretty simple though.

Cool, I've just bought a 83 Ranger Top Bracket and I am going to see about making the bottom one. That is why I want some Ideas.

the ranger top bracket still kinda puts it up high doesn't it?
mine is down low where the power steering pump used to be. but i'll still find some pics, might help you some

Yes, it does that is why I am looking for other Ideas. I got it cheep so if I didn't use it I cound pass it on to someone who can. lol
