Wondering if you know how much cooler a FMIC from you would be over stock 88 TC? I know there are some variables but in general. And what hp gains could we expect? Just Aprox. estimates is fine, lets say everything was stock and I installed the FMIC.

Bo dyno'd his SVO with a stock IC and our FMIC kit and he said: Stinger's intercooler is a nice kit at a great price. We saw a pretty solid 20whp improvement on the dyno over a stock SVO intercooler without even optimizing the tune for the cooler air temps the stinger intercooler produced. This was on a relatively low/mild power 275whp car and I'm sure it would have been worth even more on a higher power engine. Boost was 15# on both tests. What he means by "optimizing the tune" is that the cooler air will allow you to run more boost (or more timing at the same boost). Typically each psi of boost is worth about 7hp so if you turn the boost up another 3psi after installing the FMIC then you can assume it will add an additional 21hp or so over the 20hp gained from just the cooler air (so 40hp total).

Nice. Thanks I think it'll be a good investment.

in hindsight, i wish i would have spent the extra money and went with a stinger FMIC. i went with a $300 kit, thinking i'd save $250. not the case. after buying specialized silicone reducers/bends, a new radiator, and the fabrication time, i would have been extremely happy to have originally gone with the $550 purchase and clean install.

This was discussed on TF when my kit first came out. Some people had the same idea...figured it they could do the same for much less on their own. Once all of the required pieces were added up, they realized this wasn't the case...especially if your time is of value to you.

Question on 88 t/c, I think the rotated intake looks cleaner. Whats involved? need to move alt. down or across to other side. And do I need to machine down the intake to clear the hood? If ya'll can share some links pertaining to these mods that would be great. How much do I need to shave off the intake to get clearance from the hood? Just trying to decide if I want to do these things before ordering up FMIC

You can do a 90 degree intake that requires moving the alternator, or you can do a 120 degree intake that goes around the alternator. You can get the intakes ready to bolt on from 40bob.com
