I have an internally waste gated turbo, I bolt on your external gate to the header, then do I need to do anything with the flapper and hole in the exhaust turbine from the internal set-up? Thanks for any help. Tim

I removed the rod and the factory unit and left the flapper in there.

Just wire, bolt, etc something to hold the flapper shut!

I figured the pressure in the housing would hold it shut. Didnt do anything to the little arm sticking out the bottom to keep it in place, either way if it did move it doesn't seem to be affecting anything.

You shouldn't be able to use the factory elbow with the header so I'm not sure where this question comes from? If it's not a center mount header then the previous comment doesn't apply. In that case, you need to do something to hold it shut.
Bob, please explain. If you've got an internal gate flapper and an internally gated turbo on a Stinger header with an external gate, you've got a 1" exhaust leak that is severely delaying boost response.

I've got your center mount header, your 3" down pipe and the 38mm external wastegate on my factory SVO turbo. Took the arm and the factory actuator off when I installed the other pieces. I cut the flange out of the factory actuator and reused it to hold the compressor housing down.
I ASSumed that the OP had your down pipe as well, without asking!

OK, I follow all of that and it's correct.
I just didn't know what you meant by:
"I figured the pressure in the housing would hold it shut (pressure in what housing? Hold what shut?). Didnt do anything to the little arm sticking out the bottom to keep it in place (if you're using our downpipe you don't have a little arm sticking out the bottom anymore???)."

Thanks folks, I plan on buying the center mount header, if i get the external gated downpipe would that sufficient to close off the flap? Pry won't hurt to wire or bolt it shut as well.

If you've got a T3 based turbo, the internal gate flap is removed when installing the header downpipe and the downpipe flange blocks off the wastegate hole in the turbo. If you have an IHI or Holset, the flapper is inside the exhaust housing and needs to be held shut (but our header downpipe doesn't bolt to those turbos so I don't think they are in this conversation).
