So I got my car running and have the dual piston bov - at idle it looks like the white piston is fluttering and possibly letting extra air in and creating a vac leak.
Is there something I can do to stop this? It seems to run much better if I just block it off.

Nevermind, I'm an idiot - put the heavier spring in and all is well.

how do you have a vacuum leak from a bov that is upstream of your throttle plate?

While it may not be a "vacuum" leak, it is leaking metered air (or letting in metered air, depending on whether it's under vacuum or pressurized). On an engine with an air meter, any air leak after the air meter is a vacuum leak. On a speed density (map sensor only) setup, it's any leak after the throttle plate (same for a carb).
Of course, with a dual piston BOV, the original post is inconsequential because they are designed to have one valve open and one valve closed under idle conditions.
