Another question, I have been given the recommendation to get the pistons and rods balanced. The spec sheet from CP says the rods are +/- 1 gram. How are stock rods usually? Balanced or way off, should I spend the money to get them balanced?

Unless this is an 8000 rpm race engine, don't bother. As a brake college student, I once ran two Speed Pro and two stock pistons in the same engine...it was fine for over 30k miles before I sold the car.

I noticed the the #1 rod got hot at some point in it's life. It is blue'd on the big end. Think they will be ok to run or should I pick up a new set of rods? If they are ok, I can't remember which side the oil squirter hole faces....left or right?

I wouldn't run a blue rod.
