Okay so i know its bad on the turbo to not have a blow off valve because it spins backwards.. and the factory intercooler doesnt allow for any room to put a blow off valve,, ( I love the factory intercooler and wanna keep it)
Anyone ever thought of mounting a flange on the inlet side of the intercooler like in my picture?
and the hose off the BOV will go to the intake for the metered air to be registerd? or can it be vented to atmosphere?>>
whats your guys opintions?

Turbos certainly don't go backwards but I get where you're going.
Yes, I've seen 20+ people mount a valve on the stock IC. You can vent to atmosphere if you use the right type of blow off valve (explained in the listings for the 3 types of valves we sell on our site). Otherwise you can recirculate it like the pic shows (but that's a bypass valve, not a blow off valve when used that way).

I have a bypass valve mounted to my intercooler, not all the intercoolers are the same, mine has a thicker area on towards the firewall side of the intercooler. The thicker area was perfect for drilling tap. The aluminum however was a bear to tap. Getting the tap to even start and catch any threads is the hard part, the aluminum just wants to tear out. If you know someone who welds aluminum you could certainly have a 1" tube welded to it. I would aim for that rear part because there is more room, as opposed to the middle.
If you have a VAM or MAF, you are probably better to served to have it recirculate to the inlet side of the intake. If you use a speed density setup, then either way is fine.

If you have a VAM and use the right blow off valve you can vent it to the atmosphere. When you let off the gas the ECU closes the injectors above a certain RPM so there is no difference in the way the car will run. I run a Stinger blow off valve with a large VAM and LA3 and it runs the same as it did with no blow off valve, no difference at all.

Good to hear, its just that under certain conditions, the computer will still command the injectors. If you run a PIMP or other speed density setup, it doesn't matter.

As stated by myself and oneowner88lx, you can run the proper (aka dual piston) blow off valve with a VAM with no ill effects. They are designed to work with metered air (vam or maf) systems.

Thats cool, whats actually different about yours that makes it work that way? Does the dual piston make it just open and close more quickly? I actually need to get your bypass valve, I personally don't like the sound that blow off valves make. I have the Bosch one that cam with my bypass kit. It hasn't failed yet, but I've head that the plastic Bosch units are not very durable and that they can leak and stuff.

Dual piston BOV's don't open under vacuum (one piston opens, the other stays closed) so there is no vacuum leak under high vacuum conditions like a typical valve. This is what causes a single piston BOV to run poorly on a vam/maf setup, not the release of air when the throttle shuts.

I have one already mounted on my stock intercooler. I have no use for it. I would be willing to sell it. PM me if you're interested.
