So I've allways liked a side exit exhaust . Has any one pulled one off with stingers 3 inch down pipe for the center mount? I think if I did a single 3 inch it be too close to the ground . Debating doing a y-pipe to two 2.5 pipes. Thinking having them both on the passgerners side. So I can run fuel and brakes on drives side so I don't have to worry about cooking them.
My only other idea is cut a hole in the floor behind the seat and run it out thru the side of the car above the rocker like some race cars do. I'd box it in so any fumes would be still out side. I just can't justify it tho punching a 3.5 inch hole in the side of my Capri.
Just tell me your ideas and thought please...

There are transitions available too...no need to fab them up unless you really want to.

Yeah, you'll definitely have clearance issues with a full 3" pipe (unless it's oval). You'll also want to have it exit as close to the front or rear wheel as possible so you'll have additional clearance for speed bumps or loading on a trailer.

yep, I'm most likely going with a right side exhaust on my pinto, it will exit just in front of the rear wheel so I may have to go with some oval tubing. depends on the ground clearence I end up with. spintech does have some pretty good stuff on there web site for a project like that. but like Carl said, there is lots of info to be found on the subject by doing a google search...

Yea if I were to do it again I woulda done all mandrel bends and had it exit right before my front tire, I thought that bend would create a restriction however. I definitely got some clearance issues now.

I googled lol it's just most of the cars just have stingers down pipe and that's it. I couldn't find any oval tubing and couldn't figure out the math for what would flow the same. I plan to have it right in front of the pass tire. Going to put a section of 3incj after the down pipe the a oval 90 puting 45 deg towards the ground the a oval to that pouting straight out the side so I have all most no chance of hitting the ground

Oval pipe is best.Brave men have heated and squashed 3" pipe... The biggest problem is if you have frame connectors. I've seen frame connectors cut and C'd for clearance, lots of extra work. Keep the exhaust out of the cabin, thats just trouble

my exhaust is stock down pipe(will be stingers sometime) to a 20" glass pack 2.5" then to a 3" L pipe i had lying around
i only have clearance issues over extreme speed bumps, and the fuel lines are right above the pipe when exiting on the passenger side ( could be evap lines but i thing they all run together) so you need to wrap the pipe there to prevent it from melting the lines its mounted with a single trans hanger and a flex pipe added to the down pipe.

How does the glass pack sound with the turbo?

The ones I've heard sound like a Tractor on crack. Glasspacks that have the little vanes that stick down into the flow of exhaust restrict flow though so they aren't a real good "performance" option on turbo cars.
