i have a 91 mustang with a 2.3, i am getting a rotted out 84 svo mustang that runs fine. i want to install the svo drivetrain in the 91 mustang. what do i do with the wiring from the svo? do i have to change the complete wiring harnass out of the svo? since the svo has a hood scope for the intercooler and the 91 does not, i was thinking of a water to air intercooler. do they work better? or should i stay with the air to air? Please help!

I'll reply here (as well as your email) so the answer will show up in a search in the future:
Since SVO's are some of the Rarest Mustangs ever made, I hate to hear of one going to the crusher, especially a running one.
Regardless, your swap isn't particularly special compared to what I have covered on the site. As it says in the swap page, you use the 91 Mustang harness, not the SVO harness. All you need from the SVO harness is the coil plug and the air meter plug (as stated on the website).
The ONLY thing you need to be aware of is that the swap page is for using an 87-88 Thunderbird turbo coupe ecu/air meter/injectors. It is a greatly superior ecu to the one in the 84 SVO and will help to eliminate problems down the road. I suggest you get this ecu before you do the swap. You'll also need the larger injectors (35lb low impedence) from the later turbo cars. You can identify them by their brown tops as opposed to the green tops your injectors have. Once you have these two items and the two bits of SVO harness mentioned above, just follow the swap page on the site.
As for the intercooler, most people just upgrade to a front mount intercooler and eliminate the stock intercooler. Air/Water IC's work great, they are typically used for race cars though as the water will heat up significantly in normal driving.

i pulled the motor out of the 84 svo, i am looking for the 88 coupe ecu, i will buy your front mount intercooler kit. ( how does the intercooler mount?) also i need to redo the air intake as the stock svo tubing is rotted, i want to install a cold air intake. who makes one for this type of install?

The easiest thing to do is to just remove the air meter mount, run a straight piece of tubing with a couple silicone couplers between the turbo inlet and air meter, and put a cone filter on the end of the air meter. This is the "cheap" cold air option.

In stock form the PE may run a bit harder but the LA3 is much smoother, idles better, and is a faster processor (and is cheaper and has more potential with a chip).

can you add a chip to the LA3? if so which one is a good one to get?

Yes, you can add a chip. All the chips available are user programmable not just a "plug in and go" like most newer car chips. They are available from moates.net
