I recently replaced the vane in my 85 merkur and now she runs like a whole different car(as in it is better now). but now the new problem is I have no power under boost. It does make boost and I can here the waste gate opening (I think its the waste gate). but no power, all clamps are tight also. any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Smoke under boost? How much boost? Does it make power and then fall off or never make power under boost? Do a leak test?

the car has always smoked, but I dont know if it because its out of tune or what. but it does smoke under boost. I think it does get some power but very little to none. I already blocked off the bov (and plugged the line) to see if it was letting air by and nothing. I have never owned a turbo car before, can you explain a leak test? I checked all clamps and hosing (not much at all) all check out. thanks

Ok will do those tests. It smokes under all conditions but more under heavy throttle and boost. Thanks

The color is VERY important in diagnosing the cause, what color is it? White, Blue, or Black?

Blue is oil...definitely need to do a compression check.

like I said in the first post it got quite a bit of power when the turbo spooled before, but when I replaced the vane it lost it's power under boost. The old vane was toast (tested it with a vantage for resistance and swept it), but the new one seems be a lot better when not boosting but this new problem is created. Could this be caused by the new vane? but will do a compression check thanks.

Clearing them doesn't help you. You need to write them down so you can fix what it says is broke. What you did was remove your only "help" in fixing the problem. If you've ran the engine much, you should be able to re-scan the codes (write them down!) and relay them here.
