I have an 88 turbo coupe with 3" exhaust, front mount intercooler, gutted intake, manual boost controller, and it is currently running about 14lbs of boost because i am getting the compressor surge and did not want to turn the boost up any higher. I have been reading a lot of things on different forums but none about the turbo coupe. I know the BOV vents to atmosphere and the BPV recirculates the air but what would be best for my application? I have also seen the hybrid BOV which is 50/50 (half recirculating and half vent to atmosphere). I am just confused on what to purchase that would be best for my car?

If you look at our site listing for our BOV's and BPV's, it explains how each style works on 2.3T engines and should help you with your decision: www.stinger-performance.com/universalparts.htmlJust be aware that a single piston BOV will not work properly on a engine with a VAM or MAF.

I run Stinger's dual piston BOV with the VAM and have no issues.

Thanks i will look at that. But i was also concerned about the BOV because the guy i bought the car from was a car guy and had his own shop putting turbos on cars and what not. And he was saying that if i put a BOV on it that i will have tuning issues later on when adding upgrades? That's why i was kind of steering away from a BOV even though i love the sound of them!

Ignore the previous owner, follow the information we provided above that relates directly to 2.3T powered vehicles and isn't generic info. The previous owner was talking about a "normal" single piston BOV which I said above will not work. Note the guys above said they were running our DUAL piston BOV that's designed for use with a VAM/MAF. This is all covered in the 3 paragraphs on the site describing the function of each BOV/BPV we offer (single piston BOV, dual piston BOV, single piston BPV).
