Or is this just how it fits ?

Depending on the turbo type brand and how the 45 degree fitting is rotated, it may or may not drop down a bit in the middle. Typically it's more like 1/4 to 1/2" drop at most. If it causes the oil to back up and smoke in the exhaust, I'll shorten the one you have, or replace it.

That's what Im getting , smoke in the exhaust on a warm shut down , the let it sit for a few ( 10min) and I have smoke . And that's the only time it ever smokes . I don't have time for the car to be down ( it's racing season ) and would love it if you could send me a new ( shorter ) one . Thanks Chris .

That doesn't match what happens when an oil return line is causing smoke. Your situation sounds exactly like valve seals leaking. Typically if you have the header removed, you can look into the port and see the oil trail running down the valve stem, and/or see oil in the ports. If the drain line is the issue, there would be oil in the downpipe but no oil in the header, head exhaust ports, etc.

It seems highly unlikely the valve stem seals are leaking . It's a brand new boport head with less than 200miles on it . I do not have smoke on decell . Nor on a cold start up . Only on a hot restart after sitting for a few to 15 min. The longer I let it sit , the less smoke I have .

Anything is possible so I'm trying to wrap my head around how this could be caused by a return line restriction. The way I see it, only when there is oil coming into the turbo from the feed line at a faster rate than the oil can return to the pan from the return line will there be a possibility of oil getting past the turbo seals and causing smoke. In the case of an engine being turned off, the feed flow goes away which keeps additional oil from entering the turbo and the oil pressure goes away, preventing oil from being pushed past the turbo seals. Any pressure in the crankcase also goes away (aiding in flow away from the turbo and into the oil pan). I can't think of anything that turning off the engine or letting the engine sit (not running) that could increase the chances of oil leaking through the turbo seals. Can you think of anything I'm not considering?
I'm all for providing a new line but I'd like to have at least a little confidence that it will fix the issue at hand.

I understand and am also trying to figure out why this is happening . But the drain line should NOT be going up at all , so I think I need to start with that . Everything on my motor is brand new , lower end, turbo , head etc. With less than 200 miles on it . So I would like to start with the obvious first .

I'll send a shortened line. Hopefully it fixes the problem. I'd like to hear back with feedback regarding both the fit of the line, and whether it stopped smoking. Are you still living on Main st?

its odd i have a very similar issue with my ranger. i have brand new everything. and i noticed it more when i started running higher boost numbers. i would do some logs and shut the truck off and then start it up 10-15 mins later and i would get smoke coming out of the exhaust then it would go away after 20-30 secs. i figured it had to do with not letting the turbo cool down beings it doesnt have coolant running through. i had my header off and everything was perfectly clean so i assumed it was an issue with my turbo

Weird that the lines look exactly the same installed, though the new one was significantly shorter as you said. What turbo is it?
